File # 2020-8030 Update

The intersection of Shaughnessy Street and Wilson Avenue, Port Coquitlam, has been reopened after a pedestrian was struck by a bus, but the police investigation into the incident is far from over.

The collision was called in just before 12:30 p.m. on March 26, 2020. The pedestrian, a 91-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Early indications suggest the bus was making a turn from Shaughnessy onto Wilson. There is no indication that speed or impairment are factors and the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

Investigations into serious collisions typically take a considerable amount of time as police gather and analyze evidence, review video, speak to witnesses, and bring in experts to evaluate the data.

If you witnessed anything and have not yet spoken to police, please call the Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency number at 604-945-1550 and ask to speak to the Criminal Collision Investigation Team (file 2020-8030).
