File # 2020-8030

Mounties are investigating after a bus collided with an elderly woman who was crossing the road on foot at the corner of Shaughnessy Street and Wilson Avenue, Port Coquitlam. The pedestrian has serious injuries and has been taken to hospital.

The collision was called in just before 12:30 p.m. on March 26, 2020. The road was closed in all directions so that the woman could receive medical attention and police could do a complete investigation.

Early indications suggest the bus was making a turn from Shaughnessy onto Wilson at the time of the crash. The driver is cooperating with the investigation. There is no indication that speed or impairment are factors.

Due to the severity of the collision, it could be hours before the road is reopened. Please monitor the Coquitlam RCMP website (coquitlam.rcmp-grc.gc.ca) and social media pages to learn more.
